‘Shelter’ outside view: Aluminium, plaster, acrylic paint, wood, rope.

When going on a symbolic journey, it is beneficial to take ‘Shelter’ with you. The object protects in a symbolic way. It is a gesture: The right hand that blesses.
*
‘Shelter’ will protect one person, sitting or squatting under it, from symbolic dangers. It is a religious object, but for a religion not yet defined.
The inside is covered in ultramarine blue pigment, suggesting the colour of
the heaven hours after the sunset following a clear, bright day. The structure is lightweight aluminium, with folding hinges. The hands are tied to the red wooden frame, overlapping like the tiles on a roof. Unlike the rooftiles, they do not encase, yet provide Shadows when needed.
The hands are tied…
Everyone is free to copy ‘Shelter’, but the cast should be made from your own right hand. Dimensions, materials and quantities will be provided on request, but you’re free to make shelter larger. Just make sure it stays portable. Love and good luck.
